About Me

As a child, Senior Residential Mortgage Lender Valerie Gilliam was always interested in how much everything cost and how much money came into her household. She turned that fascination into a long and successful career focused on helping families plan for their home purchases. She loves developing relationships with her clients, and taking care of her customers' needs and goals is her top priority. Her exceptional attention to detail and vast financial knowledge helped her to qualify for the Leader's Club for three years with a national bank, which she earned by being in the top 10 percent of all loan originations in purchase transaction dollar volume. She also earned an award within her company for funding the most money on purchase transactions while maintaining a 100 percent score in customer satisfaction.

Valerie got her start in the financial field in Houston, Texas, as a junior in high school when she participated in a distributive education program. Her school placed her in a bank's credit department, where she spent six years before becoming a loan assistant for a commercial bank holding company. She moved to Aspen, Colorado, in 1985, where she worked as a receptionist for a mortgage company. Three months later, she was promoted to a loan processor and worked her way up to become the manager within four years. She has since originated loans for two national banks, and joined Cornerstone Mortgage Company in 2010.

Valerie lives an active life outside of work. Since 2003, she has been a certified spinning instructor and teaches three classes per week. She enjoys taking tours lasting two or more weeks on her road bike and riding her mountain bike. Closer to home, she likes to cook for guests and she loves spending time with her family, including her husband, three grown stepsons, their wives and a young granddaughter.
